For our homework, we walked to Eminönü from Kadir Has University. We chose The Spice Bazaar location which is in a long and narrow street. We chose this street because there were a lot of various sounds there. It was a really noisy place so it was the best place in our route to represent different kinds of sounds. For example, different type of human sounds, various metarials sounds, animals, prayer sounds etc. We reflected those sounds with more details in our project. We group them as warning sounds, human sounds, car sounds, natural sounds. Then we thought them about how we can visualize these sounds and with what kind of meterials we can enrich and improve them. We decided to use colorful straws because sounds were various and their volume was changing and straws were good materials to show the changing volumes of the sounds. We gave those straws different heights according to the sounds' decibel. Prayer sound was too high, it arised suddenly and because of the high volume of prayer, it was difficult to focus on other sounds so it took our attention a lot. Then we decided to make the prayer our project's most dominant part, so we showed it with longer and red straws so that it became the most dominant part of our project as we wanted.

In the second part of our group project, we had to transform sound into a 3D form. First, we searched different forms on the internet. There were a lot of art works that inspired us. Then we chose the form of our project. We wanted to make it look like it's opening more and more towards the sides by getting smaller. It was a good way to show the scattering sounds. Then we chose our materials.Photo block as a suitable material for it because of its appearence and resistance. We gave them different lenght of triangle shapes to show the volumes of the sounds. Then we covered their edges with different colors of fabric materials, according to groups of the sounds. For example we chose red for prayer sound because red color is striking. Then we added acetate to show the distributions of the sounds. We added more acetate for the prayer because its sound was the highest.
We think that we reflected and showed different kinds of sounds with using appropriate materials and colors. We think it looks balanced because we refrained from exaggerating it's form. So it doesn't look far from our subject, it looks balanced. Then we created some stories about our work. These are 'Creating Earth'(photos below), 'Prison' and 'Paralel Universe). We are all pleased about the result of our project. :)
